Squirrels
Squirrels in the attic
Running and gnawing in the daytime, from spring through fall, usually means squirrels.
Squirrels chew a gap larger, and a nesting female uses the same one every day. We find the openings on the roof, seal the spare ones with metal, and fit a one-way door over the last. If kits are in the nest, we work around the nest or wait.

Entry points
Where squirrels get in
Three places account for most of the calls.

Vents and screens
A thin screen gives way to a determined squirrel. We replace it with heavy steel mesh.

The chimney
An open chase or loose cap is a path to the attic. We fit a cap that keeps the draft.

Flue and vent caps
A cap with a screen keeps animals out and lets the flue work.
Squirrel questions
Is it a squirrel or a rat?
Squirrels are active in the day, rats at night. Noise at midday in the attic is a squirrel. We can tell from the inspection.
Do you trap squirrels?
Our method is a one-way door. Where trapping is allowed and called for, we say so and explain why in the estimate.
What about the babies?
If kits are in the nest we don't close the door on them. We wait, or work around the nest, and tell you the plan.
Hear running in the attic?
Book an inspection. We find the openings and give you a written estimate for closing them.
